What is Microneedling?

Microneedling, also called skin needling, dermarolling, or collagen induction is an advanced skin rejuvenation treatment offered at our Colchester, Essex clinic.

It is a cosmetic procedure that involves pricking the skin with tiny sterilised needles. The small wounds cause your body to make more collagen and elastin, which heal your skin and help to increase cell turnover, treating issues like acne, sagging skin, and discolouration/pigmentation.

Minimally invasive skin needling is virtually painless. There is no downtime, and your skin will feel fresher, younger and healthier.
Microneedling also works incredibly well for people with darker skin tones because it does not involve heat the way laser treatments do, which can affect your skin’s pigmentation or colour.
MICRONEEDLING

How Often Should I Get Microneedling?

How often should I get microneedling done?

The short answer is: as often as you want to! But the thing is, it depends on your skin type and goals.

Microneedling is a great option for anyone who wants to improve the appearance of their skin, whether that's by reducing fine lines and wrinkles or by getting rid of acne scars. It also helps with hair growth, which can be particularly helpful if you're going bald!

We recommend starting with a series of three treatments at least two weeks apart—but of course, if you see results sooner than that, feel free to come back in sooner! We would love to see your beautiful face again back at The Mind Body & Soul, Colchester, Essex

How Much Is Microneedling?

Microneedling is very effective in improving the appearance of sun-damaged skin, acne scars and stretch marks. It helps stimulate collagen production in the skin and promotes new cell growth which improves the overall health of your skin.

microneedling can be expensive. In fact, the price of microneedling can range from $100 to $500 per session depending on what type of machine you choose to use.

At The Mind Body & Soul, Colchester, Essex, we believe that microneedling should not be exclusive to those who can afford it. We offer professional treatments for a much cheaper price and promise results!

Our Microneedling Results, Before & After

Does Microneedling Have Side Effects?

Often, people are hesitant to try microneedling because they fear it will cause significant side effects. However, this is not the case. In fact, there is little to no risk of side effects at all!

Microneedling is a simple procedure that involves the use of a small needle or device that punctures the skin in order to encourage healing. This process can achieve results similar to those seen with other cosmetic procedures such as chemical peels and laser treatments, but with fewer risks involved.

For example, when compared with chemical peels, microneedling has very few side effects. Chemical peels can cause irritation and redness in areas where the peel was applied; however, these symptoms usually go away within 24 hours. The same cannot be said for laser treatments; these treatments have been known to cause burns and scars on the skin due to improper use by untrained professionals.

MICRONEEDLING

Can Microneedling Help Acne and Stretch Marks?

Acne and stretch marks can be a huge source of insecurity for many people, but they don't have to be.

Microneedling is a safe and effective treatment that can help reduce the appearance of both acne scars and stretch marks.

We know how hard it can be to find affordable acne treatments in today's world. That's why we offer microneedling near you at The Mind Body & Soul, Colchester, Essex where you'll get a full consultation with one of our highly-trained aestheticians before getting the treatment that's right for you.

By using tiny needles to create microchannels in your skin, microneedling can help promote collagen production, which means less scarring after a wound heals, as well as more even skin tone overall.

Can Microneedling Help Skin Conditions?

Microneedling is a great way to boost your skin's appearance.

Microneedling is one of the most powerful treatments for skin conditions. It's known to help with everything from acne to wrinkles and even scarring. Here's why microneedling is an essential part of any skincare routine.

Microneedling can help reduce acne scars and acne redness by increasing collagen production and improving circulation. It also helps to thicken the skin and smooth out fine lines and wrinkles. Microneedling increases the absorption rate of topicals applied after the procedure, meaning you get more bang for your buck when using serums, moisturizers, or other products.

Microneedling can be used on all skin types: oily, dry, normal—you name it! Even sensitive skin can benefit from microneedling because it doesn't cause irritation or inflammation like other treatments do.

Microneedling is a great option for people with skin conditions who are looking for a non-invasive procedure that will help them achieve their goals. Whether you're trying to reduce the appearance of scars or wrinkles, or if you want to tighten up your skin, microneedling can help you get there.

Microneedling works by creating tiny holes in the skin that trigger collagen production, which leads to improved elasticity and skin tone. It also helps stimulate blood flow, which can help lead to improved healing from injuries and other conditions.
Initial Microneedling Consultation

At your initial Microneedling consultation, our aestheticians will examine your skin in order to put together a treatment plan and decide if this is the best treatment for you. Depending on your skin concerns, we may recommend microneedling every 4-6 weeks for 3-6 treatments.

You must avoid botox and filler for two to three weeks before skin needling and fake tanning. We also advise that you stop using topical retinols, acids or manual exfoliants 48 hours before treatment.
Please arrive at your appointment with minimal makeup. We prefer if you come makeup free, however, we do understand that not all clients are comfortable doing so.

During Microneedling Treatment

Before microneedling at our Colchester, Essex clinic, your skin will be prepped and sterilised. No anaesthetic is used as the treatment is quick and minimally invasive with little discomfort.

A customised serum will be applied to the treatment area. This serum will be based on your specific concerns, as discussed at your consultation.
Needle depth varies depending on your skin concerns and how comfortable you are. For different treatment areas, we may recommend different depths. It is possible that shedding of the skin may occur 3-7 days after the first treatment.

A cooling and hydrating mask will be applied to the skin. This contains active ingredients that aid treatment results and reduce downtime.

After Skin Needling

After your microneedling treatment is complete, your aesthetician will recommend which aftercare products can be applied to the skin, including an SPF. Skin will initially be pink or red and can feel like a mild sunburn. This hot and slightly tight feeling can last up to 48 hours post treatment but is completely normal.

It is important that after microneedling, you do not touch, rub or pick your skin. No cleaning or perfumed products should be used for 12-48 hours after, and you must not use retinols, acids or exfoliators for a minimum of five days.

Peeling may start 3-5 days after treatment. You will notice skin dryness and flaking. This is due to an increased turnover of skin cells. Do not pick, scratch or scrub at treated skin. Allow old skin to flake off naturally and keep moisturised at all times with Hyaluronic serum and TGF- growth factor followed by Le Mieux Derma Relief Serum for extra dry skin every 2 hours if needed.

When you leave the clinic, it is important that no hair or clothing touches the treated area. It is also very important that you bring a clean facemask. If you do not, we will provide you with one at a cost. We recommend using a clean pillowcase and towel when you arrive home.

You may restart your regular skin care products and Retin-A once your skin is no longer irritated. Many patients have noticed continued skin improvement for months following the last treatment. For best results, we recommend follow up and repeat microneedling treatments in 4-6 weeks and a series of 3-5 treatments depending on your personalised care plan.
